Noah's 6th Birthday

My son celebrated his 6th birthday last week. His class acknowledged his day during class and posted it to their blog. Happy Birthday Noah!

Never Say Good Bye (the Lost Session)

I have loved House Music since 1985. You see, House is a feeling that can not be explained. It is a genre that in many aspects refuses to be defined because House Music is more than just her soulful and progressive rhythm. House Music is more than her Disco roots. House music is Soul Music, jazz, gospel, RnB, Techno, Reggae, Classical, Folk and Poetry. If you don't know you may be asking yourself how can one genre be so many? It is in fact quite simple. House music has managed to stay independent of large record labels allowing it to stay creative, fresh, pure and uncorrupted. So, with in this genre you have many sub-genre including Gospel House, Deep House, Latin and others. These genre are what allow House to speak to people from so many different walks of life. Ask yourself, how many other forms of music have such broad appeal? How many other forms of music allow you to go to church, the jazz club and finally the symphony all in one night? How many other forms of music can invoke such emotion?

Many of you may think me crazy. Your are thinking, "it all sounds the same". You say this because you never allow yourself to hear past "the beat", that infectious, driving, heart pounding beat. The one that beckons you to the dance floor. You House Heads understand what I am saying. The beat that speaks to the very depths of you but I digress. If you hear past the beat you will find countless layers of vocal and instrumentation including classical and jazz guitar, organ, french horn, violin, piano, conga, spoken word, Gospel Soul and Folk vocals and much much more. House Music is a an ever evolving fusion of the life experiences of its producers. It has survived and flourished and continues to touch generations.

So I submit to you House mixes from DJ Creator, me...Enjoy!

…You

I would love to make love to you tonight,
To feel your skin against mine,
To smell your wonderful fragrance,
To taste you
I want you.

I want to kiss the small of your back.
I want to kiss the nape of your neck.
I want to savor every caress, every nibble, every second with you,
Next to you,
Inside of you.
I want you.

I want to earn the gift that is your orgasm.
I want to explore every part of you.
I want to learn to play your erogenous keys like a virtuoso.
I want to take your mind and your body to heights you thought only attainable in dreams.
I want you.

I want you to be my teacher.
I long to learn what it is to make love to you,
With you,
For you.
I want you.

I want our bodies to become entwined like two trees growing in a jungle,
Never knowing,
Never seeing,
Where one stops and the other begins,
I want you.

I want our love to know no bounds;
Becoming as vast as the universe
Flowing like a river,
With ebbs and flows,
Building to crescendo,
Ever growing,
Ever loving,
I want you.

They Say you are My Dad

They say you are my dad
But how can you be
When you do not know me

You call me son
But who are you?

I do not know
Will not know
Can not know

Our lives are intertwined only by blood
As we know nothing of the other except the past
Your exit from me so unceremonious
So long ago

They say you are my dad
But how can you be
When you do not know me

Good memories of you,
Of us two
Are so few
So long ago that
They fade as a movie to black

Yet, there are no applause
No, to be continued…

They say you are my dad
But how can you be
When you do not know me

You call me son
But who are you?

I do not know
Will not know
Can not know

Sad memories once filled me, consumed me
Memories of promises not kept
Love not returned

Feelings that haunted me
Rejection
Hate
Sadness
Despair
Did I make Dad leave?

They say you are my dad
But how can you be
When you do not know me

Then God’s love made these feelings fade
They too faded to black
But to the sound of a chorus of Angels
Lifting my spirit high

They say you are my dad
But how can you be
When you do not know me

You call me son
But who are you?

I do not know
Will not know
Can not know

You see,
Dad is a term earned
A Dad is a father endeared
A father respected
This you can not be because
You don’t know me…

So here we are
Me a Dad
And you my father
I thank you though
Because you showed me the way
To be the Dad I am today
“How could this be?” you say

The example you set
Put me on a path
To make me my children’s dad
I will be an open book
Sharing my strengths and flaws
I will show them what you did not show me

I
Am
Dad

The Rainbow

Today, Noah saw his first rainbow

We, driving slow
Taking the long way home
Through the puddles
Big and small
Enjoying the last drops of rain
I, letting them wash away the hectic day
He, enjoying the sound of water beneath our wheels

See, I am dad
He is son

He spots it first
And says
Look daddy a rainbow daddy a rainbow!
His voice filled with excitement
His eyes filled with wonder
My heart suddenly filled with joy.

I have seen countless rainbows
He has seen one

Yet, this day I saw a rainbow through his eyes
Eyes untainted by hurt or pain
Eyes who see everything with wonder and amazement
Eyes where everything is new

For that moment I became untainted by hurt or pain
He opened my heart
Allowing the rainbow in
Filling me with wonder and amazement
Making my excitement echo his

We sat there two children enjoying God’s wonder
We sat there two children enjoying God
We sat there two children
We sat there
We sat
I and He

I will cherish this moment
A moment where Dad and son shared
A Rainbow

Her eyes...

...see the world
as ones that have felt no pain
Eyes never heart broken
Eyes knowing only love and compassion

Her eyes
See the world
In a way lost to me
With wonder and amazement
With beauty and splendor

Her eyes
Study every object that passes by
Each capturing her imagination
As she studies them intently
Deconstructing what they see

Her eyes
Look at me…
…so intently
Peering into the very depths of my soul
Learning me
Speaking to me
Deconstructing me
Showing me what I cannot see

Her eyes
Command, no demand attention
Not to be ignored
But they do even this so gently
As they look at me so intently

Her eyes
Hold such beauty
That sometimes they blind me
They Inspire me
Challenge me
to be more than I ever thought I could be

Her eyes
Say love me

Her eyes
love learning

Her eyes
Speak volumes to me

Her eyes
Desire to see

Her eyes
Comfort me

I wish you could see
What I see
Through
Her eyes
